Intra-Cultural Clash
Cultural Confrontation-Related Understanding

By: Dieter Senghaas
Dieter Senghaas is one of the most outstanding German Radicalist theorists with great and worthy-of-reading writings on development, security, and peace. This book is a major and controversial contribution to key contemporary issues such as multi-culturity, cultural reaction against modernization, culture clash, and potentials of multi-cultural tolerance and dialogue. Finally, it is a considerable addition to the criticism of core clashes of cultures. Bob Jasob, Professor of Social Science, Lancaster University

Senghaas has contributed to the revival of civilization and world order-related studies. He rejects the intellectual trend, which perceives civilizations as static entities that can never evolve, and which approaches culture clash as inevitable. On the other hand, he focuses on the dynamics of development through internal conflicts of ideologies and interests by conquering chaos in changing societies.

Robert W. Cox - York University, Canada

This book is a major controversial contribution to modern debates ignited by Francis Fokoyama' End of History and Samuel Huntington's Culture Clash. Dieter Senghaas addresses some of our contemporary political issues such as:

  • How can societies tolerate multiculturity
  • Tolerance as a successful solution.
  • The role of "Culture" in contemporary conflicts, which are described as culture-generated.
  • Will international politics of the 21st century get heavily involved in cultural conflicts?

Senghaas explores these issues within non-Western cultures contexts, such as the Chinese political philosophy, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism. He further studies the possibility of emerging constructive cultural dialogue. His distinctive and radical approach keeps pace with the recent updates, besides it is vital for individuals involved in politics, international relations, social sciences, cultural and development studies, religions and international political economics.
