Book Synopsis

This story qualified the author to win the prestigious prize of Hans Christian Anderson.

It is the story of a little orphan boy who is nine years old who dreams of leaving the gloomy and cruel orphanage in order to get a real home.  The problem is that everyone who comes to adopt a child goes for little girls with curly hair, not boys who have strait hair.  This is why he runs away from the orphanage.  In the end, Rasmus's dream of finding a home and  family keeps on recurring to him: Will this come true? Or his search for a home to settle in will continue?
